What i miss about the PNW

Getting outside was so easy in the PNW, particularly in Portland. Just big enough to be filled with delicious eats and brews but just small enough to take a short drive out of town without getting swarmed by traffic.

Honestly though, I think the thing i miss the most is the air. Fresh, crisp, and not completely filled with garbage rats, garbage angry people, and garbage; I blame the evergreens. It’s that smell of pine lining every hike and that campfire smoke in your clothes the day after. The six hour drives out to a brand new backcountry, scream-singing in the middle of the night with Carol the Carolla. It’s the snow melting off the cascade mountain range in the middle of June and the adorable warming huts and fire lookouts five miles out on the coldest nights of winter.

If it wasn’t for Charlie, i might forget to catch my flight back to NYC one of these days.

Anyway, here are some pictures from my reunion with Portland last month. I took every second that i could out of it.

TL;DR

mountains, evergreens, carol the Carolla (RIP)
